Scope overview
De door Hans van Heeswijk ontworpen “kantoormachine” aan de rand van Delft is in 2003 nieuw opgeleverd aan Rijkswaterstaat. Het 8 bouwlagen tellende gebouw bestaat uit twee L-vormige vleugels die in het midden samenkomen in een centraal atrium. Op dit moment wordt het pand volledig gebruikt door Rijkswaterstaat Centrale Informatievoorziening (RWS CIV).
Het gebouw wordt door de huidige gebruiker gezien als een waardevol kantoor door de centrale ligging, nabijheid van lokale samenwerkingspartners (o.a. TU Delft) en de omgeving is een vestigingsplaats van veel werknemers. Ondanks de moderne presentie van het gebouw zijn er verscheidene zaken die ervoor zorgen dat de werkomgeving en ondersteunde gebieden niet optimaal gebruikt kunnen worden.
Dit komt doordat het gebouw nog gebaseerd is op oude normen, daarnaast zijn er verscheidene knelpunten die het gebruik belemmeren. Het gebouw zal, in lijn met het Masterplan Delft, omgevormd worden tot een volwaardig en toekomstgericht rijkskantoor.
