Scope overview
De A44 is gebouwd in de periode vanaf 1935 als de Rijksweg A4 en daarmee een van de oudste autosnelwegen van Nederland. De Rijksweg bevat onder andere een kunstwerk uit de projectscope wetende het Spoorwegviaduct, welke is gebouwd in de jaren '30 van de 20e eeuw (1933-1939). Het kunstwerk is niet gebouwd met het huidige gebruik in gedachten. Onderzoek heeft aangetoond dat het Spoorwegviaduct einde levensduur nadert.
De hoofddoelstelling van het project is om het Spoorwegviaduct tijdig constructief veilig te maken en weer te laten voldoen aan de geldende normen voor constructieve veiligheid, zodat de A44 weer conform regulier regime beschikbaar is.
