Scope overview
The Dunedin City Council (DCC) has recently resolved to take over the ownership of two artificial hockey turfs located at Alexander McMillan Hockey Centre in Logan Park, Dunedin. The two hockey turfs have reached the end of their useful lives and require replacement to ensure continued availability of the turfs for our communities.
Replacement of the turfs also creates an opportunity to align the specifications with Hockey New Zealand to ensure that the facility is suitable for Tier 1 national level tournaments.
The DCC wants to partner with an experienced supplier to supply and install the two new artificial hockey turfs, assist with the disposal of the existing turf, and undertake the design and construction work required to adjust the boundary fence closest to the pavilion to square up the pitch, and adjust the backdrop netting on the pitch as required.
Whats most important: > It is essential that the new turfs meet the specifications set by DCC, Hockey New Zealand and the International Hockey Federation (FIH) to ensure useability of the facility. > We want the turfs to be durable to ensure longevity of the asset and are designed to be suitable for the weather conditions experienced for an outdoor artificial turf in Dunedin, New Zealand.
> It is important to us that the existing surfaces are disposed of sustainably. We want to ensure that if the existing turfs are able to be re-used by the community. > We want to ensure that at least one playing surface is available on Sunday 10 November 2024 to allow Otago Hockey Association to host a Premier Hockey Tournament event.
> We want to ensure that all works are complete prior to the start of the Hockey Season, in March 2025.
