Scope overview
In May 2023, universal, post-donation screening for HHV-8 antibodies was added to the portfolio of tests required for deceased organ donor characterisation in the UK. Routine pre-donation testing for other required infection markers continue to be performed on an urgent 24/7 basis by a network of UK wide NHS diagnostic laboratories.
MSL Virology require a fully automated platform to perform testing for HHV8 DNA in plasma and whole blood samples. MSL Virology also requires a fully automated platform to perform testing for CMV DNA, HEV RNA and HBV DNA in EDTA plasma samples.
