Scope overview
A contaminated land remediation exercise is required at the Curzon Wharf site where LNAPL (Light Non Aqueous Phase Liquids) has been identified within a monitoring well.
The exercise will comprise of at least two stages, with the first stage comprising dipping each of the five wells in the vicinity with oil/water interface dip meter to measure LNAPL thicknesses; sampling from the wells; laboratory testing for a speciated TPH and BTEX suite of analysis; followed by manual baling and disposal of any LNAPL.
The second stage will comprise the open-hole excavation of the original well location to a depth of approximately 5.5m below ground level; the logging of the sidewalls and recording of any oil seepage into the excavation and the segregation and testing of gross contaminated soil followed by the verification sampling of the excavation base and sidewalls.
A sump will be used to pump and collect LNAPL and contaminated water until the source is removed. A third stage of remediation within the scope of works may be required depending on the results of the first two stages of remediation.
An options appraisal of remediation techniques will be required and may include the installation of additional remediation wells, further total fluids recovery, further excavation of contaminated soil and/or the installation of a chemical oxidation zone. A verification report will be required at the completion of the works.
Additional information: Suppliers should be aware of the scale of this project and should assess their internal capabilities to be able to carry out the intended scope of work, prior to completing this expression of interest (EOI).
