Scope overview
The purpose of the Invercargill City Liquefaction Hazard Assessment is to identify areas of land, under the Invercargill City Council (ICC) jurisdiction, where there is potential for liquefaction induced ground damage to occur. This information is important to us to meet our obligations as a Building Consent Authority under the recent changes to the New Zealand Building Code Section B1/AS1.
This information will also be used for natural hazard planning and is likely to form part of future District Plan changes. An important consideration in evaluating proposals will be the level of relevant experience of the personnel both leading and actively participating in the project. The assessment must be in accordance with the MBIE/MFE guidelines (2017).
There are two mandatory requirements for this Hazard Assessment. Please refer to Section 3.2.
