The Commission regulates electricity distribution business�s (EDBs) and Transpower under Part 4 of the Commerce Act 1986 (Part 4) for the long-term benefit of consumers.

The Commission regularly reviews Asset Management Plans (AMPs) to monitor the compliance and performance of the EDBs and to ensure that the AMPs are fulfilling the purpose of information disclosure (essentially that sufficient information is available for interested persons to assess whether the purpose of Part 4 is being met.
