Scope overview
East Sussex County Council Children's Services seeks to purchase and implement a new IT system for its Virtual School by mid-February 2024. The Council has a duty to improve the educational outcomes of looked-after children, previously looked-after children, and children with a social worker. Virtual School works in partnership with education providers, social workers, and families to do so.
The students Virtual School supports may live in East Sussex or other counties. Virtual School's responsibilities include: o Ensuring the right school placements, that schools have the information they need about students, and that they provide appropriate support, including a Designated Teacher. o Tracking and monitoring attendance, educational progress, and attainment.
o Ensuring effective Personal Education Plans are in place, with additional resources or tuition when required, and effective use of Pupil Premium funding. o Championing students' needs along with effective practice to promote their educational outcomes. The Virtual School has 1,115 young people on roll and is currently working with 217 different educational establishments.
