Portable Hands-Free Lighting for Firefighters in Confined Spaces

Fire and Emergency New Zealand wishes to provide its front-line firefighters with a portable (on-person), hands-free, close illumination capability (light) to supplement its existing fireground illumination capability which is based on illuminating an area from a free-standing capability (e.g. a stand mount). The �personal� capability will be used for close work in a confined space e.g.

in a crashed motor vehicle or a confined space rescue, in conditions where low ambient light exists e.g. through dust, smoke, fog and airborne debris and in areas where low ambient light present hazards to firefighters in the form of tripping or trapping while trafficking an area on foot.
