Pohjois-Karjalan hyvinvointialue liittyy NHG Finland Oy:n Hallinnon ja tukipalveluiden vertailupalveluun. Palvelussa mitataan ja verrataan hallinto- ja tukipalveluiden kustannusten, tuottavuuden, henkilöstön, tyytyväisyyden ja muita tunnuslukuja käyttäen palvelun toimittajalle kuuluvia malleja, ohjelmia, vertailutietokantoja ja muita menetelmiä.
Vertailu tapahtuu muihin palveluun osallistuviin hyvinvointialueisiin, joita on palvelun alkaessa mukana Pohjois-Karjalan hyvinvointialueen lisäksi vähintään 4 kpl. Palvelu antaa siten tuloksille ja toimintatavoille luotettavan ja ajantasaisen vertailutiedon vastaavista yksiköistä muualta Suomesta.
Palvelun mittarit on suunniteltu toimialakohtaisesti ja laskentaperiaatteet tehty kaikille osallistuville yksiköille yhdenmukaisiksi luotettavan vertailun tekemiseksi. Mittariston laskenta perustuu useista eri tietojärjestelmistä kerättäviin aineistoihin ja aineistoja on useita jokaista osallistujaa kohden.
Palvelu mahdollistaa toiminnan tason tunnistamisen, kehitystyön fokusoimisen ja parhaiden käytäntöjen jakamisen sekä kehitystavoitteiden toteutumisen seurannan kustannustehokkaalla tavalla.
