Allgemeine Angaben zur Baustelle: Die 11-geschossige Wohnscheibe Körnerstraße 9-10 ist Bestandteil des Modellvorhabens zur Weiterentwicklung der Städebauförderung Erfurt Südost. Die Wohnscheibe liegt in exponierter Lage am Kammweg und ist dadurch im Stadtbild weithin sichtbar. Die Großwohnsiedlung Herrenberg ist in den 1970er Jahren entstanden, das Objekt Körnerstraße wurde Anfang der 1980er Jahre errichtet.
Durch die Herstellung einer Gebäudefuge zwischen der Körnerstraße 9 und 10 wird die massive Wirkung des Gebäudes aufgelöst. Der Haupteingang des Gebäudes erfolgt über einen dreigeschossigen Neubau innerhalb der Gebäudefuge. Die Erschließung der sanierten Wohnungen erfolgt über vorgesetzte Laubengänge. Die Körnerstraße 10 erhält einen Anbau für Tagespflegeeinrichtungen und Seniorenresidenz.
