Scope overview
Since 2021, rental share scheme operators (operators) have required a permit to operate in Dunedin under the Trading in Public Places Bylaw (the Bylaw). The current permit is due to expire on 30 June 2024. The Dunedin City Council (DCC) wants to partner with one micromobility (e-scooter) rental scheme operator to provide a safe, efficient and sustainable e-scooter rental scheme for Dunedin from 1 July 2024.
Interested operators will not be able to operate in Dunedin without the required permit. This is your opportunity to obtain a permit to comply with the Bylaw and operate as the sole provider of an e-scooter rental scheme in Dunedin.
