Scope overview
14.9.c - Only one supplier for technical reasons. Exemption was approved for Technical Reasons: The MRI room at the new Hagley Hospital was designed, constructed and fitted out for an existing Siemens MRI that was going to be transferred from Riverside (part of the hospital campus).
However, in March 2020, approval of a revised business case was confirmed to purchase a new MRI for Hagley to meet patient volumes, removing the need to transfer the existing MRI.
Following input from experts, covering off necessary involvement from Project Consultants such as Architects, Engineers (seismic, electrical, mechanical), Builders and MoH, it was confirmed that the room had been completed, ready for installation of a Siemens MRI some time ago, and that no other suppliers MRI could be installed without extensive rework and modification to the room (interior and exterior), as well as potential unknown issues, notable delays and significant cost to CDHB.
