Um die Umweltbelastungen und den CO2-Ausstoß zu reduzieren, wird die Einführung von emissionsarmen und klimafreundlichen Busantrieben vorangetrieben. Batterieelektrische Busse bieten eine vielversprechende Alternative zu konventionellen Dieselbussen.
Sie sind lokal emissionsfrei und tragen somit zur Verbesserung der Luftqualität in Städten und Gemeinden bei. Darüber hinaus sind deutlich leiser als Dieselbusse, was zu einer geringeren Lärmbelastung führt. Dieser Umstieg setzt voraus, dass die batterieelektrischen Bussen im ÖPNV bei der EW Bus GmbH im Eichs-feld, ein Tochterunternehmer der Eichsfeldwerke, eine entsprechende Werkstattausrüstung erhält.
Das Ziel der Ausschreibung ist die Planung und Beschaffung einer Werkstattausstattung in Form eines sicheren Dach-arbeitsstandes, DAS genannt. Ein effizienter ÖPNV kann nur mit einer hochwertigen, zugeschnittenen Werkstattausrüstung funktionieren. Die EW Bus GmbH – Auftraggeber, AG genannt - schreibt aus diesem Grund einen Bus-typenoffenen Dacharbeitsstand aus.
