Scope overview
Reference: LRPS-2026-9202514 The new Country Programme Document (CPD) 2026-20230 has been finalised for the period March 2026 to December 2030. The CPD for South Africa will be presented to the Executive Board for discussion and comment during the First regular session10–13 February 2026.
The CPD development was informed by a series of consultations with national authorities, United Nations system organizations, local development partners, members of the private sector, and civil society, including children, adolescents, and young people.
The UNICEF country programme is aligned to the Mid-Term Development Framework, the National Development Plan 2030, Africa’s Agenda for Children 2040, the Africa Agenda 2063, and G20 deliberations. It responds to the concluding observations of the Committee on the Rights of the Child and is aligned with selected impact results in the UNICEF Global Strategic Plan 2026-2029.
Lastly, the programme outcomes are strategically aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) and other UN agencies, reinforcing shared priorities around equity, inclusion, resilience, and child rights. To translate this programme vision into actionable results, UNICEF is required to develop a Country Programme Management Plan (CPMP)
