Stad Oostende hecht veel belang aan een warme en sfeervolle kerst- en eindejaarsperiode. De kerstverlichting speelt daarbij een essentiële rol. De stad wil in de komende jaren opnieuw sterk inzetten op een kwalitatieve en aantrekkelijke feestverlichting.
Deze opdracht omvat het ontwikkelen van een totaalconcept voor kerstverlichting en -decoratie voor het grondgebied van Stad Oostende (met uitzondering van de binnenstad), evenals de volledige uitvoering ervan (met uitzondering van de binnenstad).
Dit houdt onder meer in: de plaatsing en ophanging, de controle tijdens de gebruiksperiode, het onderhoud en de nodige herstellingen, en de verwijdering na afloop van de feestperiode. Deze opdracht omvat kerstverlichting en -decoratie voor de wijken, niet voor de binnenstad. De afbakening tussen de twee zones werd op kaart aangeduid en maakt deel uit van het bestek.
De kerstverlichting en -decoratie in de binnenstad vormen een aparte opdracht, waarbij er extra aandacht zal zijn voor het toeristisch potentieel van deze zone.
