Kaavamuutos on käsittelyssä Joensuun kaupungin toimielimissä. Asemakaavan muutos edellyttää kaavan muutosta asuinkerrostalojen korttelialueesta (AK) sosiaalitoimea ja terveydenhuoltoa palvelevien rakennusten korttelialueeksi (YS).
Kaavamuutoksen on ennakoitu valmistuvan maaliskuun loppuun mennessä 2026. Hankkeessa suunnitellaan tiloja mm. perusterveydenhuollolle, suun terveydenhuollolle, mielenterveyspalveluille, lapsiperhepalveluille, terveyssosiaalityölle, laboratorion näytteenotolle, vammaispalveluille, perustason kuvantamiselle, henkilökunnan ruokailulle, kahvio potilaiden käyttöön ja näiden palveluiden tukipalveluille.
