Nitrifikasjonsbassengene (NIT) på Veas er en viktig del av det biologiske rensesteget. Nitrifikasjonen gjennomføres av nitrifiserende bakterier som bruker luft og bor i små leca kuler i bassenget. For en effektiv nitrifikasjon er det viktig at oxazurdysene er åpne og intakte og at rørene som leverer luft til oxazurdysene er i god tilstand. Veas har 8 prosesslinjer for vannbehandling med 4 nitrifikasjonsfiltre per linje, 32 totalt. Det er behov for at 20 av NIT-filtrene inspiseres og rehabiliteres. Se Vedlegg 1 for nærmere beskrivelse.
