Scope overview
Pursuant to Section 315 of the New York City Charter and Section 3-06 of the Procurement Policy Board (PPB) Rules, the City is seeking to enter into a emergency contract with Jewish Family Services of Buffalo and Erie County (JFS) to provide resettlement Services for Asylum Seekers in upstate NY.
A court order, issued by the town of Cheektowaga, requires the City to remove asylum seekers from Erie County hotels by the end of the 2024. This emergency contract with JFS will provide the asylum seekers with housing for 1 year, which will include rent, security deposits, utilities, and furniture. JFS will identify housing and enter into lease agreements with landlords if required.
JFS will provide case management and legal services, including translation and interpretation, to help asylum seekers apply for asylum, TPS, work authorization, etc. JFS will offer direct cash assistance to asylum seekers to ensure they have resources for food, transportation, and personal care, including access to medical care.
