(Local Belize Time) The Government of Belize has received financing from the World Bank for the Belize Reliant and Resilient Energy System Project, being implemented by the Ministry of Finance.
This Project aims to enhance the country’s electricity infrastructure by integrating 40 MW of battery energy storage to facilitate future renewable energy adoption, improve grid resilience against extreme weather conditions and provide technical assistance for system optimization.
The Ministry of Finance invites qualified individuals to apply for the contractual position of Social Specialist within its Central Executing Unit.
The Social Specialist will be responsible for ensuring social inclusion, gender sensitivity, stakeholder engagement, and compliance with applicable social safeguard policies and frameworks, in accordance with the Environmental and Social Commitment Plan (ESCP) , Resettlement Policy Framework (RPF) , and Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP) .
The Social Specialist will oversee and support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the Project’s social development activities. This includes ensuring effective stakeholder engagement, managing social risks and impacts, promoting gender equity, and facilitating compliance with the World Bank Environmental and Social Standards (ESS) and other funding partners.

The process will also adhere to the procurement policies and the best practices of the Government of Belize. This selection is open to all eligible individuals as defined by the referenced policies. Application packages should be submitted in English, using the required template, before January 26, 2026, by 10:00 a.m . (Local Belize Time) . Late submissions will not be accepted.
