Scope overview

This project involves developing the finalised Basis of Design into a full detailed design and construction ready package for the refurbishment of Berth 5B3 within Portsmouth Naval Base. The upgrade will provide enhanced operational capacity of the non-tidal basin at Portsmouth Naval Base.

The design development progresses the scheme from RIBA Stage 2 to RIBA Stage 4, covering all civil and structural elements required for delivery. The scope includes strengthening and adapting the quay structures and access road to reinstate full operational capability at 5B3.

As part of the qualification process we will be looking for evidence of; (Please refer to section 3.27 of the selection questionnaire) - Experience delivering RIBA Stage 2-4 design for major civil or maritime infrastructure projects. - Capability in quay wall, jetty, or berth structural design, including rehabilitation or strengthening of historic or mixed material waterfront structures.

- Experience working within operational port, dockyard or naval environments, including managing constraints associated with security, access, and vessel movements. - Experience designing foundations and structural elements involving heritage or legacy construction, such as timber piles, stone walls, or hybrid masonry concrete structures.

- Capability in producing construction ready design packages, including fully coordinated civil, structural, and access/roadway design. - Evidence of successfully managing stakeholder interfaces, particularly with infrastructure owners, defence clients, or complex multi disciplinary teams.

- Experience delivering works where existing loading restrictions or degraded maritime structures require enhanced investigation, monitoring, or temporary works considerations.
