Scope overview

The long-term focus of the Christchurch Hospital Precinct Master Plan proposes staged infrastructure development that will provide an increase in surgical and inpatient capacity within the campus. Existing buildings at Christchurch Hospital are ageing; ranging from 10-50 years old.

Planning to update facilities and accommodate future growth in the Christchurch Hospital site began in 2008 but was interrupted by earthquakes in 2010 and 2011. The earthquakes damaged several of the existing buildings, reducing structural integrity and restricting suitability to accommodate inpatient services.

Remediation works have been undertaken to ensure operations can be maintained in a safe environment, however the CDHB has further rectification works to undertake within prescribed timeframes to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Canterbury DHB is seeking to appoint a suitable consultant to assist with managing the monitoring of master planning (including enabling works required as part of master planning) and construction projects, including provision of strategic direction.
