Scope overview
The Department was formed in 1995 on the principles of rehabilitation and public safety which remain at the core of what we do. At any given time, 10,000 individuals are in prison, and 30,000 people serving a community-based sentence or order. The Department employs more than 200 qualified nurses and each day 600-700 people in prison receive care in prison health centres.
We are seeking supply of Physiotherapy services to People in our Prisons in Northern Region. Suppliers will support our efforts to improve the health of people in our care. Sickness, addiction and injury can be barriers to rehabilitation and reintegration. Its in everyones interests that we provide primary healthcare for people in prison.
People in good health mentally and physically are better able to take part in interventions designed to help them stop offending, and to learn new skills, study towards qualifications, or find work.
