Scope overview
Reference: ILO-CXB-2026-03 The ILO Bangladesh is currently implementing the project ‘Improving Skills and Economic Opportunities for the women and youth in Cox’s Bazar, funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC).
The project aims at the economic empowerment and economic participation of the Bangladeshi host community through gender sensitive market relevant skills development programs linked to employment and self-employment in growth sectors.
The entire project adopts a leaving no one behind strategy by identifying challenges all persons particularly women, youth, ethnic and religious minorities, persons with disabilities - are facing to access and benefit equally from the activities; adopting targeted measures to tackle them; and involving beneficiaries in the design, implementation, and review of interventions.
This project involves multi-level stakeholders relevant to the skills development and employment generation in the target areas. Project Outcomes: Increased access to enterprises, business and employment opportunities in environmentally sustainable growth-oriented, employment-intensive sectors and value-chains in Cox’s Bazar.
Increased participation of women, people with disabilities and youth of Cox’s Bazar in the quality-assured market-driven skills training programmes. The project plans to deliver market-driven skills development training for 200 young Qwami madrasah (QM) students (women and men) through NSDA accredited QMs with the institutional support of an implementing partner in Cox’s Bazar.
The training will take place at the 5 QMs premises.
