Scope overview
Walsall Council ('Council') has a requirement for an organisation to undertake improvements to a Council-owned building leased to two external organisations: the Walsall Black Sisters Collective (WBSC) and the Union of Muslim Organisations (UMO) in Walsall.
The building is at the Mayfield Community Centre, 17-19 Wednesbury Road, Walsall, WS1 3RU on the corner of Wednesbury Road and Glebe Road co-locating the two organisations with each having a separate entrance.
The works required comprise of: WBSC Remove security bars to windows & scaffolding Replacement of external sash (style) uPVC windows in the style of the existing windows Complete essential roof repairs causing leaks internally- slate, ridge, guttering and bay window roof repairs Repairs to external brickwork and structural remediation associated with windows Replace decaying external doors Repair external entrance steps, handrails etc.
UMO Works include the re-design of the internal section of the building to create a new training and community welfare centre consisting of: Toilets, including a ground floor compliant facility for those with disabilities An operational kitchen for catering for events New office facilities, with private consultation space / room Training rooms General repairs as required to complement these works.
