Scope overview
The Birmingham VA Medical Center has a requirement for up to Four (4) Beds per Day for eligible male and female veterans with or without children and spouse in transitional housing and social rehabilitation centers facilitating access to a broad range of medical, substance abuse, mental health, rehabilitative, and employment placement services.
More information is provided in the Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) directive regarding Contract Residential Services (CRS) , and both state and federal regulations. Operations will be conducted 24/7, regardless of federal holidays. Veterans will be housed for an unspecified amount of time. Overnight occupancy must not exceed 4-persons.
Veterans housed may have substance abuse disorders, psychological disorders or other mental illnesses that have not been diagnosed. The structure of this contract will be counted based on number of veteran filled beds per day, or 1,460 beds per year. The current requirement is an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) with five (5) ordering periods and a 6 (six) month extension to be utilized in the last 5th (fifth) year of ordering.
