Scope overview
Industry 4.0 describes the trend towards automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies and processes which include cyber-physical systems (CPS), the internet of things (IoT), industrial internet of things (IIOT), cloud computing, cognitive computing and artificial intelligence.
Industry 4.0 technologies are being increasingly used by international manufacturers and are providing significant competitive advantages. New Zealand firms risk being left behind competitively if they fail to adapt, which would mean a loss of domestic manufacturing and interlinked service industries, reduced high-value employment, reduced exports, and increased imports.
Uptake in New Zealand across SME's and large organisations has been slow for a variety of reasons including a small, isolated domestic market and lack of information. Manufacturers learn best from their peers and in real world settings.
This opportunity is to present Industry 4.0 concepts to manufacturers in a way that is relatable and practical, so they can see a clear path to incorporating these technologies and realizing the benefits they provide. This will be the role of the Industry 4.0 Demonstration Network.
What we need: Callaghan Innovation's goal is to future proof New Zealand's manufacturing sector by driving Industry 4.0 uptake and requisite skills development.
To achieve this high-value strategic objective, Callaghan Innovation is tendering for a delivery partner to: Develop an Industry 4.0 Demonstration Network, which consists of: - a mobile Industry 4.0 showcase - a network of Industry 4.0 site visits; and - access to, and observation opportunities in, up to two 'smart factories'.
This is a high profile and well funded opportunity to deliver all three of the above elements. You can provide proposals to complete all three or just some of the above elements depending on their suitability and preference. What can you do? If you are interested in this exciting opportunity, please subscribe to this RFP and download the attached documents to find out more about this opportunity.
Please ensure you submit your response by the closing date.
