Westport Wharf Repair and Reinstatement Project Seeks Main Contractor

The Buller District Council (BDC) is seeking a Main (lead) Contractor to deliver the Westport Wharf Repair & Reinstatement Project. The Westport Wharf Repair & Reinstatement Project holds considerable importance as a vital community infrastructure recovery initiative.

By reinstating safe function of the wharf structures and Port, benefits will accrue to the broader community by facilitating on-going industry activity and growth. This RFT relates to the procurement of a Main Contractor to deliver the repair and reinstatement of adjoining wharves known as the Holcim #2 and Kawatiri Berth that were damaged by Buller River Floods in 2021 and 2022.

The principal objective of the Westport Wharf Repair project is to address unsafe conditions produced by the July 2021 and February 2022 Buller River flood events and restore wharf service levels so that the wharf structures are fit for existing and future operations.

This includes, but is not limited to, the following broad steps: � Repairing the underlying retaining wall such that further ground failure and damage to (deflection of) the wharf structure is arrested; � Installation of new piles beneath the wharf centre line to provide straight and structurally-sound piles; and � Repairing/replacing the wharf deck to cover over holes that have opened in the wharf deck and to ensure it is trafficable and remains so.

We need a Main Contractor who has the ability, skill, track record/experience, and desire to deliver the project within time, budget, and to the requisite quality.
